With a unique eye for visual storytelling, Wondros Director Sean Thonson celebrates the renowned purity of Maine’s waters in a new campaign for Poland Spring. The spot highlights the rich topography within the region and the streams that contribute to the 100% natural spring water delivered in each bottle.

Throughout the spot, Thonson explores the 10,000 year-old glacial aquifers that filter the water in a stunning exposition of waterbeds, rivers and springs that define the heart of Maine. The campaign gives voice to the springs in affirming the legitimacy behind Poland Spring’s 100% natural spring water.

WONDROS Welcomes New Head of Production Kelly Martin; Expands Sales Team With Addition of Matt Bucher of Obsidian Representation

Led by the vision of Wondros’ Executive Producer of Commercials Sophie Gold, 2018 saw the expansion of the company’s highly curated roster of Directorial talent. With the New Year in full swing, Wondros is pleased to welcome Kelly Martin as its new Head of Production. Martin will collaborate with an incredibly diverse and impressive roster of Directors that includes: Gerald McMorrow, Antoine Fuqua, Jesse Dylan, Dennie Gordon, duo Riess|Hill, and recently signed Jeff Yeats, Sean Thonson and Henry Littlechild.

“2019 is already off to an incredible start for Wondros,” says Gold. “It’s hard to remember a time when Kelly wasn’t here as our Head of Production; she is such an asset. Kelly is smart and savvy, and has a wealth of experience. She has deep connections within the production community across all territories, and she is amazing with our Directors.”

Kelly Martin is a multifaceted individual who is excited to bring her many talents to Wondros. Martin’s career began at MTV Networks in New York, before jumping continents to work for MTV Networks Australia. Afterwards, Martin worked as a Line Producer on projects for clients such as “Marriott,” “Stella Artois,” “Levi’s,” and “Sony.” Before joining Wondros, Martin was with B-Reel Films as the Head of Production, where she oversaw all in-house and freelance production teams from prep to wrap. 

“I’ve been a fan of Wondros for a long time,” notes Martin, “and I am excited to work with not only the very talented roster of Directors, but also alongside its inimitable Executive Producer Sophie Gold. I hope to support Wondros’ robust Directorial roster with my years of experience in executing commercial film production, as well as producing episodic domestic and international television. We want to produce competitive bids that open our Directors up to new and exciting clients and opportunities, shooting here on U.S. shores and beyond.”

Wondros’ EP Sophie Gold has also expanded the commercial division’s new business and sales force with the addition of Matt Bucher of Obsidian Representation as a sales representative in the Midwest.

With a wealth of international experience, Littlechild joins an impressive collective at Wondros that includes: Gerald McMorrow, Antoine Fuqua, Jesse Dylan, Dennie Gordon, Riess|Hill, Ellis Bahl, Jeff Yeats and recently signed Sean Thonson.

“We're excited to welcome Henry to the Wondros family,” Gold shares. “His style encapsulates intelligently crafted, creative comedy performance, which crosses live-action, VFX, animation, puppetry, and CGI.”

London-bred Henry Littlechild discovered his passion for the arts early on, studying film and photography at a local art school before catapulting into the realm of directing through acclaimed advertising agency Leagas Delaney. Littlechild made several films for the agency as an integral part of creative new business pitches, which then lead to directing full-time at London’s The Viral Factory. Known for pioneering the art of viral marketing, the company was the perfect nurturing ground for Littlechild, where he directed several high-profile projects including a content series for Ford Ka, seen by over 30 million people online and winner of multiple awards including a Silver BTAA and Young Guns Bronze.

Littlechild worked with multiple European agencies over the years including AMVBBDO, Fallon, Leo Burnett, MullenLowe, Grey, Ogilvy, and TBWA. Through his widespread experiences, he was celebrated for his unique approach to storytelling with three Silver Lions awards at Cannes and One Show Gold for his Ford Fiesta SP campaign, to name just a few. Littlechild’s CGI project for Smyths toys was revered for expanding consciousness and outdated gender norms with a young boy dressed as princess, now with over 10 million hits on YouTube.

“Some things are meant to be and as soon as I spoke to Sophie, she had me hooked on her vision for Wondros,” says Littlechild. “After concentrating on Europe for the last few years I cannot wait to get started in the US.”

Director/DP Sean Thonson understands light like no other Director working today. He understands it from an emotional perspective, as well as a technical one. He knows how to plumb the depths of a single look into the camera, bring a lyrical dimension to a tiny gesture, and make motion feel poetic. He’s the creative eye behind the camera, the empathetic soul guiding the actors, and an idea machine always turned on. Collaboration to him is more than a meeting of the minds; it’s an adventure, a journey, and a joy. He believes that creativity is always personal, and is informed by your character and a heartfelt belief that people matter, that ideas count, and that the best work comes when you leave your ego at the door.

Throughout his career, Sean has directed spots for virtually every prestigious automaker (BMW, Mercedes, Lexus and on and on), as well as for a long list of clients including Sears, Unilever, Brita, Schering-Plough, Corona, and Yamaha. His groundbreaking work for Dow and BC Tourism was highly acclaimed and widely admired. With his genre-defying talent, he has expanded his repertoire to include Food and Fashion, Humor, Lifestyle, and Tabletop work, to great success. Thonson joins Wondros, having previously had tenures at production companies Supply & Demand and MJZ.

Sean is also keen to explore the real world with his documentary work, creating several award-winning short films about the people and places he’s discovered as he’s traveled the world. In all of these, his visual approach is precise, considered, and rigorously vetted. No matter the concept or style, he brings the same probing vision, the same storyteller’s eye to these subjects, and has found them to be richly rewarding.

Filmmaking is certainly a big part of Sean’s life, but it’s not the whole story. He is a loving father and husband, a loyal and supportive friend, and everything he does is informed by his love for landscape and the health of the planet. An ardent outdoorsman and environmentalist, Sean is committed to the simple premise that one has to try to make the world a better place. “My work reflects all of these things, and it is constantly pushing me into new realms and new possibilities. Director Jeff Yeats is a multi-disciplinary Director and visual storyteller. When he's not making movies, he's taking photos. Many of these photos have graced various publications such as “UGLY,” “Revolv,” and “Estero Magazine.” Kodak also employs Jeff’s delicate imagery to promote its line of professional film. It's safe to say, he is happiest when behind a camera. This hands-on approach has helped hone his ability to spot candid moments that usually go unseen. Utilizing a naturalistic, and often impressionistic style, his films employ lush imagery in order to evoke strong emotions in the viewer. Jeff was previously represented by Tool of North America.

Wondros is extremely dedicated to building the careers of their Directors,” comments Yeats. “I couldn’t ask for a better champion and collaborator than Sophie. I am thrilled to join their roster and begin this next phase of my career.”

Yeats has directed projects for clients such as Ford, Chevrolet, Acura, NBC Universal, HP, and others.
