September 2009SPEEDSHAPE CREATES CONFIGURATOR FOR THE KNOLL MICROSITE AND NEW “GENERATION” CHAIR
The creative team at Speedshape, a 3D integrated digital studio, created a Configurator for a Knoll microsite and the company’s new “Generation by Knoll™” desk chair. Created completely in CG and based on CAD data, photos and material reference provided by the client, Speedshape worked in conjunction with ad agency Fathom and Knoll product specialists to ensure the CG chair was up to date with the physical chair as it went through production. www.sithowyouwant.com The Generation by Knoll™ chair is a revolutionary new model of desk chair. Available in a host of colors, including Lemongrass, the chair offers flexibility, allowing people to sit sideways or even backwards. The chair features the Knoll Flex Back, Flex Top and Flex Seat technology, combined with Dynamic Suspension Control: allowing users to “Sit How You Want.” For the team at Speedshape, this exciting project for Knoll entailed the programming of CG assets to create the Generation by Knoll™ Configurator. Users can customize their chair via various options within the “Demo” section of the site, as well as utilize the “Save to PDF” function. Speedshape created the “Demo” site layout in AS3 and Flash based on client-provided comps. Additionally, Speedshape provided technical assistance and consulting on site functionality. NTROPIC GETS ITS SMOKEY ON WITH “BONFIRE” PSA
Summer is camping season and a high-risk time for wildfires, nine out of 10 of which are caused by human carelessness. With wildfire prevention in mind, DraftFCB tapped Director Jason Zada of Tool of North America and visual effects company Ntropic to create a PSA called “Bonfire” on behalf of the Ad Council, the U.S. Forest Service and the National Association of State Foresters. For “Bonfire,” Ntropic was presented with the challenge of redesigning Smokey Bear to add greater CG realism to the classic icon of wildfire prevention in an intensive 4-week production cycle. Ntropic’s animation acumen produced a full cinematic treatment for Smokey including lifelike hair and movement and physical proportions appropriate for the ultimate protector of the woods. Ntropic worked hand in hand with both the agency and Jason Zada who directed the charming cautionary tale of the potential pitfalls of having a casual attitude towards fire and wildfire prevention– from an annoyed girlfriend to the impact on communities. “It was amazing to work with the agency team and Jason on the rollout of the newly designed bear on Smokey’s 65th birthday,” says Ntropic’s Andrew Singara. “We were honored to help bring such a classic character to full 3d life.” Visit Ntropic
CUT + RUN’S STEVE GANDOLFI AND SAM JONES GIVES IT THE HULA HOOP
Steve Gandolfi and Sam Jones edited two spots for Mark Denton of Coy! Communications and Publicis London for the launch of Hula Hoops latest TV Campaign. The spots feature a train passenger and decorator who are distracted from the world and have become engrossed in creating finger puppets using their Hula Hoops. The puppeteers are each caught out by people around them, so they quickly eat the Hula Hoops off their fingers and are left looking rather sheepish. Original in creativity and simple in idea - both reasons we love Hula Hoops. |
