LARRY THE CABLE GUY GETS THE "ROYALE" TREATMENT IN COMEDY CENTRAL ROAST

Motion design & production house Royale was called upon by COMEDY CENTRAL to create some fun and glitz for the show open for the "COMEDY CENTRAL Roast Of Larry The Cable Guy."

The tattoo art-inspired sequence is driven by country boy heraldry including symbolic translations of the American flag, hunting and wildlife. Behind a dazzling array of arena rock lighting, the sequence opens with a sexy close-up of a bass fish tattoo emblazoned on a woman's lower back bearing the Cable Guy's trademark catch-phrase "Git 'R Done." As the tattoo-adorned Larry flexes his muscles and vaunts Dixieland's finest, we're introduced to Roast Master Lisa Lampanelli and the diverse cast of celebrity roasters including Warren Sapp, Gary Busey, Jeff Foxworthy and Toby Keith.

Excited about the potential for an edgier, animation-driven show open, Royale provided COMEDY CENTRAL with motion tests, offering visual roughs showcasing their capabilities. "COMEDY CENTRAL asked us to present Larry in a unique way, under a more contemporary light," says Jayson Whitmore, Royale Creative Director. "Going through a world of tattoos, we could transcend genre while also staying true to his comedic style and fan base. COMEDY CENTRAL put a lot of trust in our concept. We've worked together before, but it really took a leap of faith for them to buy into our offbeat vision -- especially considering the project's three-week turnaround."

KABOOM'S SAUSAGE DIRECTS CHILDHOOD COMPUTER CHICANERY WITH NEW ONLINE CAMPAIGN FOR MICROSOFT

kaboom directing duo sausage completed a series of ads for Microsoft's Windows 7 that targets IT pros where they live - online. The campaign embraces a sitcom style approach and features two utterly relatable kids, especially if you ever spent time in the computer lab.

With this particular project as with many others, sausage placed a major emphasis on casting. "The characters Trevor and Sam are an excellent way to serve up the message about Windows 7 without being too preachy, and with a feeling of pride in being computer savvy (and from a young age)," says sausage. "The actors, Matthew and Noah, stood far above the rest for their energy and ability to spit out gargantuan chunks of technical jargon in conversational tone. There are great smug remarks or digs muttered under the breath, and just the overall chemistry was perfect."

They filmed the spots using three cameras to best capture the sassy interplay between Trevor and Sam. Multiple cameras are sausage's approach of choice when it comes to big dialogue projects where maintaining high energy is key.

SÜPERFAD'S UNITED STATES OF BASEBALL PROMO CAMPAIGN COMES TO FOX SPORTS

Süperfad collaborated with FOX Sports' design creative team to produce a promotional template for the network's weekly broadcast of MLB games that would capture the imagination of baseball fans. Fox asked Süperfad to develop and produce a design concept in which baseball elements and b-roll framings could stem, while avoiding the typical sports motifs found in many promos. Additionally, the treatment needed to be both rooted in beauty and baseball, with a modular structure to allow for updates for each weekends' offerings.

Inspired by the challenge, Süperfad chose an amusement park theme entitled "The United States of Baseball": A magical place where baseball stadiums are the national monuments and every game is coupled with an energetic trip across a colorful landscape. In creating the amusement park map and stadiums, Süperfad was able to blend photo reality with hyper reality, and miniature scale with epic scale. Sweeping vistas of stadiums and fast-paced editorial led Süperfad to the cool and exciting tone that they were hoping to achieve.

Marking locations and attractions on a map with pins and connecting them with string has long been in the vernacular of travel. Pins slamming down to mark intended destinations was a vibrant visual vehicle that we employed to give us dramatic entries to the stadium shots as well as providing that additional b-roll framing device. The color and texture of the string was informed by the stitching on a baseball to keep it rooted in the sport. Fireworks, birds and signature city monuments were peppered throughout the journey to enhance the Americana experience. The piece leaves the viewer with the feeling we have just toured an exciting theme park, rich with baseball imagery, hosted in a postcard-style tableaux.
