January 2009OUTSIDE GIVES OLD NAVY CAMPAIGN THE HOLIDAY TREATMENT
Outside's prolific collaboration with Chandelier Creative ushers in the holiday shopping season with a vibrant ad campaign promoting Old Navy's "After Thanksgiving Sale," "Holiday Branding" and "Outerwear Sale." Outside contributed editorial and graphics, jazzing up the holiday palette to the spirit of the Old Navy brand while maintaining the overall aesthetic of the year's continuous ad campaign. Set to the drum of Bow Wow Wow's hit '80s jingle, "I Want Candy," the 10-spot campaign is highlighted by vivid holiday-inspired props, backdrops and sets, all of which coordinate beautifully with the vibrant color-scheme a la Old Navy's signature fashions. "Holiday Branding" sets the tone for Old Navy's holiday season, highlighting the fun of giving and receiving presents. "ATS" breathes vibrant color into the monochromatic holiday slogan Black Friday. "Outerwear," is a unique montage sequence showcasing Old Navy's dazzling array of outerwear. The commercial creatively plays on the function and design of each fashion: as each jacket is unzipped, the camera zooms-in before morphing into the next style. PSYCHIC BUNNY SEES FUTURE OF THEATRICAL INTERACTIVE GAMING WITH TIMEPLAY'S THE REAL DEAL
Taking interactive gaming to a new level, The Real Deal!, the first live, interactive poker-themed stage show, debuted at The Venetian Resort-Hotel-Casino in Las Vegas. The project was developed by The Merv Adelson Company in conjunction with entertainment experience company TimePlay, which collaborated with hybrid production studio Psychic Bunny to produce the intensive media for this innovative and immersive engagement. Psychic Bunny designed and created all graphics for the game, from live camera stat screens to scoreboards to screens for the wireless handheld devices. Psychic Bunny also wrote and produced 12 ten-second animations for key moments in the game, such as when a player goes all in, or busts out. "The most exciting aspect of this game is that it has never been done before," says Psychic Bunny Creative Director Rick Castañeda. "This is the first time that an entire theater full of people can all play the same game of Poker. We've had to create big screen splash screens, huge multi-display leaderboards, and tiny handheld screens and bring it together for a first time experience." FOX BOT AND THE KING SCORE WITH SMALL SCREEN FIELD OF PLAY RIVALRY
The ultimate rivalry is currently unfolding on Fox's NFL broadcasts. No, we aren't talking about brash commentators, nor the drama of the Jets-Patriots match up. Rather it's the action at the bottom of the screen, the face off between Fox Bot and BK's The King that offers both hilarity and old-fashioned competition. Created by agency Crispin Porter + Bogusky and Fox Sports, the animated billboards feature extensive animation and select motion graphics by Zoic Studios, which collaborated with production company Engine Room and House of Moves to deliver snappy mini narratives for sports enthusiasts. The antics began with the launch of the NFL season and will continue through the Super Bowl with theme-appropriate trickery. FINAL CUT EDITOR JD SMYTH AND DIRECTOR JAKE NAVA CREATE VIDEO FOR BEYONCE'S SINGLE "IF I WERE A BOY"
Final Cut Editor JD Smyth teamed up with Anonymous Content Director Jake Nava on a new music video for "If I Were A Boy," the lead single off Beyoncé's third solo album entitled "I Am . . . Sasha Fierce." The video is an imaginative portrayal of the song's lyrical message about the dichotomy between men and women and relationships. Filmed completely in black and white footage, the cinematic video begins with close-ups of Beyoncé's character and her husband reciting impassioned words associated with relationships. When the music starts, the song's powerful narrative is acted out with a reversal of gender roles, as Beyoncé plays an NYPD cop involved in an "on-duty" romance with her male partner, distancing herself from her spouse. After witnessing Beyoncé's character dancing with her partner, the husband confronts her. The video concludes when, suddenly, amid heated confrontation, their roles dramatically switch and it's revealed that the husband is actually the one cheating: the action in the video is only Beyoncé's suspicions reenacted . . . as if she were the boy. |
