SPY POST HELPS CREATE A VIBRANT WORLD FOR “GIRLS ROCK!” DOCUMENTARY

Spy Post continues to build its repertoire of feature films having recently completed da Vinci color correction and post work on the well received “Girls Rock!” documentary. The DV film, which follows the transformation girls go through at Portland’s Rock ‘n Roll Camp For Girls, was up-converted to HD and then treated scene-by-scene by Colorist Gary Coates using the da Vinci. Coates applied different techniques in the da Vinci to give each of the four main girls featured in the doc distinct looks based on their personality, as well as their home and camp environments.

Co-director Arne Johnson says, “We’ll never do a software color correction again. Spy Post and Gary did such an incredible job on our film. It was stunning to see how clear and beautiful the footage looked on the big screen.”

KABOOM OFFERS SUPERCHARGED TEAM FOR INFINEON RACEWAY

When kaboom was approached by advertising agency Engine Company 1 (formerly Grant, Scott & Hurley) with a campaign for Infineon Raceway, executive producer lauren schwartz saw the project as a perfect opportunity to present a kaboom collective as a complete creative solution.

Director/editor doug werby, DP joe meade, and Designer/director jory hull were assembled to form this super collaborative. They worked hand-in-hand with the agency to produce a bombastic campaign that utilizes the street stylings of a poet, a DJ, a deaf fan who can “hear” the action and the often-disparate forces that come head-to-head to make the raceway an experience like no other. “When I saw the boards I immediately knew I wanted to direct the project,” says director werby. “They were so cool because they represented such a fresh way of promoting car racing.”

NORTHERN LIGHTS CONTRIBUTES TO MOVING PSA FOR PARTNERSHIP FOR A DRUG-FREE AMERICA & VH1

To create a powerful PSA for Partnership for a Drug-Free America, VH1 recently turned to the talents of Northern Lights Editor David Gioiella. “Silent Scream” is a disturbingly elegant message of reaching out to people with substance abuse problems.

The PSA focuses on people standing against brick walls and various city backdrops as they silently scream for help. An elegant orchestral track is punctuated by the chilling sounds of distorted breathing as the individuals struggle to make themselves heard. Northern Lights Sound Designer Ted Gannon cut eerie breaths in place of syllables to form almost intelligible sounds trailing from the actors’ mouths. As a result, the difficultly in asking for help with addiction is creatively yet hauntingly portrayed.
