CUT + RUN JOINS FORCES WITH MOBY AND PUBLIC ENEMY TO CONVEY MESSAGE OF PEACE

A picture is worth a thousand words. Combine picture with music and the power of the message increases, especially when the recipe includes Moby, Public Enemy, and a moving statement about peace. Watching "MLKVFKWR," viewers are reminded that it takes personal and political action to incite change. The music video was crafted in the edit room by Giles Bury who crafted the striking visual sequence from poignant stock footage of the Iraq war coupled with footage from the artists.

The track was written for Unity, The Official Athens 2004 Olympic Games Album Compilation that was released on August 5th by EMI and is available via online retailers. Featuring a wide range of artists from 15 different countries, all linked by the theme of harmony and peace, many of the tracks are collaborations. Songs on the 16-track album include duets from Alice Cooper and Xzibit, Destiny's Child and Will.I.Am, and Macy Gray and Keziah Jones.

"Working with Moby on this theme and project again shows that music can be a universal language of peace," says Chuck D. "Knowing his great work and concerns of the planet made this project one of like mindedness and world spirit. The song is a request that being a citizen of the world should transcend nationality in the name of peace."

SIDESHOW CREATIVE BRINGS FILMS TO LIFE FOR IN DEMAND'S BARKER CHANNEL

Leading full service design company Sideshow Creative is excited to unveil its new package for iN DEMAND's Movies on Demand Barker Channel. Working in collaboration with iN DEMAND Sideshow redesigned a new Barker wheel using blocks or modules of genre categories chosen by iN DEMAND. For each module, Sideshow created an opening title sequence and a movie title list background to close it. The genre categories that define each module are: Action, Family, Drama, Comedy, New Releases, Coming Soon, Critic's Choice, Collections and Extras.

Sideshow Creative Director Bob English proposed a master concept of movie posters coming to life. Each genre would be introduced by showing a real movie poster as seen from a sidewalk outside a movie house.

"The goal with this project was to create nine different worlds that were each representative of a specific genre," explains Bob English. "To keep the styles of the posters varied, we worked with different designers and the challenge they faced was to be representative of the genre without seeing a specific person or hero. In response, our poster designs are treated conceptually using iconic images to enhance the symbolism."

KABOOM PRODUCTIONS' STEVE FONG STEPS INTO THE RING FOR UBISOFT

kaboom productions' steve fong recently directed a knockout spot for Ubisoft's new game title "Rocky Legends" via agency Buder Engel and Friends. Unfolding in dramatic black and white, the spot opens with a blurry image of a man in a white shirt and bowtie addressing the viewer. We then cut to cameras flashing and activity at a boxing ring. What is happening? Suddenly, the image snaps into pristine clarity the man in the white shirt is the referee and the viewer has the POV of a boxer. The fighter rises, only to be struck by an opponent. Thus is the exciting world of boxing "Rocky Legends" style.

"The challenge, notes director steve fong, "was to re-create the Rocky-era footage in a way that would engage the viewer without giving the scene away. We decided to shoot black and white, Kodak Plus-X, to give us grain and contrast while still providing a period feel. We also played with focus and double-images giving us a punch-drunk, almost knocked-out feel. The film also gave us a gritty, urban aesthetic, as if the fighter is working his way up through low-rent gyms."
