TWIST DIRECTOR BARRY KIMM REVEALS A DOG'S LIFE FOR PURINA

An appealing new spot for Purina OM Overweight Management, directed by Twist's Barry Kimm via agency Colle McVoy, offers a glimpse into the simple pleasures of a dog's life.

Shot at "dog level," the spot is a series of shots featuring a chubby bulldog wandering in and out of frame. Panting heavily, the dog sits patiently, then walks toward the camera, eagerly looking around and holding his leash in his mouth. "Knows he's going on a W-A-L-K," the voiceover explains, spelling out the word "walk" in graphic text on screen. "Clueless he's on a D-I-E-T." A product shot of Purina OM dog food accompanies the voiceover: "Ask your veterinarian about Purina OM, overweight management." The final shot is of the portly pooch, sitting on the floor, contentedly looking into the camera.

TNT SINGS NBA RHYMES WITH HELP FROM SPIKE DDB AND 3 FINGERED LOUIE

Though the tag line for the new TNT campaign is "Nothing is more dramatic than the truth," it could have just as easily been "Out of the mouths of babes." In this new multi-spot campaign from ad agency Spike DDB, kids sing nursery rhymes that have been updated to relay the truth about some of basketball's most beloved current players. Directed by Spike Lee and edited by 3 Fingered Louie's Wendy Rosen, the spots feature such top basketball stars as Shaquille O'Neal, Jason Kidd and LeBron James, as well as TNT sportscasters.

In "Shaq in the Dell," for example, Lakers jersey-wearing kids are circling around Shaq singing "Big Shaq rules the paint," to the tune of "Farmer in the Dell." Shaq happily sings along until the next verse when the lyrics change to, "But the Spurs won the west, hi-ho the dairy-o, the Spurs won the west" and chide him tunefully with "You'd better come back in shape." Shaq leans down towards the kids looking grumpy and, with a gasp, they return to their original line, "Big Shaq rules the paint." Nothing is more dramatic than the truth: TNT NBA Thursday. The other spots follow suit, with the kids happily imparting a sing-song version of the players triumphs and challenges.

"When I heard the concept I thought it was brilliant," comments Rosen. "Who better to tell the truth than children? And who else could get away with it? The kids and maybe Spike. It was a great collaboration. Our biggest challenge was deciding which spot was our favorite."

POP SOUND HELPS BRING PICTURES TO LIFE FOR T-MOBILE

Advertising agency Publicis recently tapped POP Sound Mixer Mitch Dorf to complete the audio mix on a new campaign for T-Mobile wireless service. The three spots, "Grocery Store," "Locker Room" and "Bridal Shower" emphasize how T-Mobile's new camera phones let you "be there."

For example, in "Grocery Store," a young woman is shopping at her local market. Her phone rings, and when she answers it, she immediately hears a loud snorting noise coming from behind her. She turns and sees a giant bull, rounding the corner by the produce section and heading straight for her. She grabs her cart and runs, finally able to escape the animal. Glancing at her phone's display, she sees a picture of a bucking bull. "Hey guys," she says into the phone. "How 'bout a little heads up next time?" Her two girlfriends listen on the other end of the line and laugh to themselves. They are at a rodeo with T-Mobile spokesperson Catherine Zeta-Jones. "Get her a picture of that guy," says Zeta-Jones, pointing to a sexy cowboy. She takes the phone and walks off after the stud, announcing, "I'll get you a close up." The spot continues with the voiceover: "Be there, with the most whenever minutes and a T-Mobile camera phone." The ending tag is the T-Mobile logo with Zeta-Jones saying, "T-Mobile. Get More."
