December 2002DIGITAL BUCKET COMPLETES DYNAMIC SCREEN SAVERS FOR ABC AND THE HIT DRAMA "ALIAS"As part of ABC's promotional efforts to increase viewer awareness and drive ratings for its hit show "Alias," the talented team at Digital Bucket completed downloadable "Alias"-themed screen savers and desktop wallpaper photos, which are available on the ABC.com website. In this creative and strategic marketing campaign, the screen savers also serve as a gift to devoted fans of the hit spy drama. Featuring action-packed scenes from "Alias," fans can download Windows- and Mac-compatible screen savers that have been produced in two versions: the "heavy version," which is a screen saver that pushes the boundaries of traditional screen savers by incorporating actual video from "Alias," and the "light version," which is a standard slide show-style screen saver. In developing the two versions of screen savers, the Digital Bucket team utilized an arsenal of tools including Macromedia Flash, ScreenTime, Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator. Macromedia Flash was used for creating the animated portions of the screen saver while Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator were used to produce the still elements. THE CREATIVE TEAM AT IV CAPITALIZES ON COMPANY'S MULTIPLE LOCATIONS TO COMPLETE NEW Y&R CREATED SPOT FOR MERCURY MARAUDERThe iv creative team capitalized on the company's multiple locations to complete a new Y&R created spot for the introduction of the powerful new Mercury Marauder entitled "Parking Garage." iv certainly has an edge when it comes to navigating the worlds of advertising, music and entertainment. Now with studios in Los Angeles, New York and Nashville, iv has been successful in a number of ventures including artist development, record production, artist management and music publishing. The ability to connect the dots creatively was one of the reasons Will Woollett, Senior Producer at Young & Rubicam, turned to iv for creative help on a spot created by John Doyle (Y&R Executive Creative Director) and group head Rich Siegel, launching Mercury's new "muscle car," the Marauder. Y&R had a specific concept in mind, which incorporated a "heavy metal" blues track into the sound design for the spot. Since Nashville has some of the finest blues musicians in the country, iv's creative solution was to use both their Nashville and newly launched LA studios, recording the band in Nashville and creating the sound design in LA. Not only did this approach take the production process to the best musicians for the job, it also allowed for the most efficient use of a tight schedule. RING OF FIRE HELPS HONDA'S WORLD-FAMOUS ASIMO INTO THE NEW "GARAGE"The talented team of artists at Ring of Fire recently completed visual effects for the new Honda spot entitled "Garage." Featuring Honda's world-famous Humanoid Robot ASIMO, the production team at Oil Factory called on the expertise of the Ring of Fire artists to infuse seamless visual effects into the endearing new spot by ad agency Rubin Postaer and Associates. At first glance, Honda's "Garage" appears to be a straightforward live-action spot. In actuality, the artists at Ring of Fire were challenged with the commercial's production logistics. The robot was also not allowed to be shot outside. In addition, the house-of-choice for the spot was located in Pasadena, California. So, during one, fast-paced week in February, the Ring of Fire team was on both sets (and both coasts) to conduct visual effects supervision on the live-action and greenscreen shoots. Once all of the live-action elements were back at Ring of Fire, the team there merged the elements into the seamless spot seen on the small screen. Many of the shots of the "Garage" commercial contain compositing at various levels. This included full seamless integration of ASIMO into the environment, as well as the reflection of the surroundings on his face shield. The Ring of Fire artists also completed sky replacements, environmental enhancements, and wire removal. |
