August 2008MR. WONDERFUL CREATES WHIMSICAL ANIMATED SHOW OPEN & GRAPHICS PACKAGE FOR WE TV'S "BRIDEZILLAS"
To usher in the new season of the popular reality series, "Bridezillas," WE tv turned to the design & animation talent of Mr. Wonderful for a new show open and graphics package. The show open is a stylized animation exploring how weddings can turn blushing brides into Bridezillas. It seems all is going well for the bride and her beau on their wedding day until the rain clouds move in, revealing a glitzy updated "Bridezillas" logo. For Mr. Wonderful, this was an opportunity to revamp the look for the opening of the highest rated series on WE tv, now in its 5th season. To explore the two sides of the brides featured on the show, from the sweet to the dictatorial, Mr. Wonderful created a bride that was pretty and stylish, even when throwing a tantrum, and built scenarios that would allude to the drama inherent in most weddings. "Damien [Henderson] and his team at Mr. Wonderful did a fantastic job of bringing our creative vision to life," says Danielle Ostroske, WE tv producer. "It was a great collaboration, and the new graphics are the perfect fit for our signature series, Bridezillas." TARGET CALLS ON RIOT FOR VISUAL EFFECTS EXPERTISE FOR NEW COMPELLING SPOTS: "VELOCITY" & "CHROME"
Target recently called on the visual effects expertise of the RIOT team for two, visually-compelling commercials: "Velocity" and "Chrome." Directed by Untitled's talented duo Tim and Jeff Cronenweth, the new spots were released in-stores on Target's Channel Red network, and received wide broadcast release. Set against the back-drop of an urban racetrack, "Velocity" focuses on the powerful Target-sponsored racecar as it literally assembles itself with car parts flying through the air and merging together. Once assembled, the animated car metamorphosizes into live-action and drives off, ready for its race. "Chrome" follows a similar storyline, although the setting is a desert plain, and the car and driver appear to liquefy into shape before they speed away into the horizon. According to RIOT Creative Director Andrew MacDonald, the collaboration with Target's creative team, as well as the Cronenweth brothers was ideal. In fact, he says, it was a highlight of the past year. "We had a wonderful, back-and-forth collaboration on this project, from the treatment stage, through production and post. The client and directors were constantly asking us for our input, which was very rewarding." OUTSIDE'S JEFF FERRUZZO DONATES TALENT TO EMPOWERING PSA ADDRESSING NYC's HOMELESS ISSUE
Creative Director Rich Russo of ad agency Euro RSCG Worldwide turned to the talents of award-winning editor Jeff Ferruzzo of Outside Editorial for a new Public Service Announcement (PSA) for the Coalition for the Homeless. The nation's oldest advocacy and direct service organization helping the homeless, the organization's new PSA entitled "When All Else Fails" features :90, :60, :30 and :15 versions. Concepted by Euro's Rich Russo and directed by Gary Lankford, with cinematography by Kevin McKnight, "When All Else Fails" informs New Yorkers about the growing epidemic of homelessness in their city. A diverse group of homeless (men, women, and even children) depicted in a montage sequence are empowered, given a voice, as each reads excerpts from a "New York Magazine" article addressing the issue. "The way Gary captured these subjects, who had never been filmed before, and the reads he got from them was amazing. The choices were endless; the visuals were stunning. It came together really nicely. I enjoy editing in general, but when it's for a good cause like this one, that's even better." DIGIT IS CLASSIFIED AS EXCLUSIVE EFFECTS HOUSE ON GET SMART'S BRUCE AND LLOYD: OUT OF CONTROL
Audiences who crave more "Get Smart" inspired, spy spoof hilarity are rewarded with the DVD exclusive release of "Get Smart's Bruce and Lloyd: Out of Control." Starring Nate Torrence and Masi Oka, the film was directed by Gil Junger and features visual effects by Digit (known as Moneyshots in the feature realm) -- the sole effects house on the project. In "Get Smart's Bruce and Lloyd: Out of Control," Bruce (Masi Oka) and Lloyd (Nate Torrence) stumble into their own comedy adventure in a zany story paralleling 'Get Smart' (including surprise star cameos from the recent feature). The R&D duo are out of the lab and their comfort zones as they scramble to find a nifty new invention they've somehow lost - an invisibility cloak (based on real world, developing technology) - before KAOS does. Digit, led by VFX Supervisor and Creative Director Elad Offer, was awarded the project based on the company's effects contribution to "Get Smart" and the trust earned during the process. "There was a comfort level that I felt whenever Elad would walk onto the set," says Director Gil Junger. "The script called for a number of effect shots that I had never attempted before. Not only did Elad easily explain the requirements for each shot, he adapted his plan from moment to moment to accommodate my approach to each scene. That, combined with his almost instantaneous on-set composites, gave me a confidence I didn't imagine possible. I look forward to working with Digit again." |
